Viva Mexico!!!!

Hi, well we are one week away from our trip!!!! We will be spending 11 weeks in the Yucatan. This year has been tough, beyond tough!  I lost both my parents within 6 months last year so needed some time to reflect, de-stress and strive for peace and joy to return to our lives.  My husband Graham is my rock and my traveling partner for 30 years! We have a blast together and are now ready for a new adventure, so got a leave of absence from work for this much needed vaca....

Our first stop will be Isla Mujeres Mexico, got to be our favorite place we have visited in Mexico. We live on the west coast so previous Mexico trip were concentrated on the Baha, Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta.  We enjoyed both of those place many times but we were still looking for a new Mexico experience that was a little more authentic and low key.  I found Isla on my favorite travel website Slow Travel.  It was recommended by a member and we have always wanted to get to the east coast of Mexico and see those fabulous caribbean waters, we were not dissapointed.

After Isla our next stop will be the capital city of Merida, 4 hours away by bus.  It is a spanish colonial city full of markets (our favorite) and colorful historical homes that are being remodeled at a break neck speed by expats from the US and Canada.  We have rented a house in the historical center where we will be spending three weeks.  During this time we want to get to know this city and will be house hunting here as well.  Merida is one of the safest cities in Mexico with a fabulous centro historico that speaks to us big time.  We hope to purchase a home here or on the gulf of Mexico, so wish us luck with that. This is the house we rented in Merida...its called the Peace and Quiet house...I like that.

After our stay in Merida we hop another bus to the coast and stay at a lovely casa on the beach in Chelem.  Casa Rosa I have been friends with on Facebook for a couple of years.  Loved the look of the place when I found it on the internet ages ago and thought maybe one day we will stay here and we are! Casa Rose has three apartments on the beach and we will be renting the middle apartment for a two week stay.  We will also be house hunting around this area...still haven't decided whether we want a beach home or a home in the city but that is what this trip is for!  Have a look for your self.

After Chelem we travel back to Isla Mujeres were we have another apartment rented for an additional three weeks....sublime...we then travel back home to Seattle where we will decide where we want to live permanently.  We hope to spend our time between England and Mexico...we shall see!
