A day at the beach...

Yesterday was one of those beautiful days here on Isla.  Went to the beach on my own early.  Hubby was watching football and followed later.  Got a couple of chairs with umbrella on Playa Norte and started soaking it all in...still can't believe I can see this everyday!

Unfortunately I found out a bit later that I didn't spend quite enough time under the umbrella, got a little burnt but not too bad.  Water was amazing and we just chilled...

Settling in...

Well we have been back on Isla a week or so and are finally settling into the rhythm here, its amazing how it takes awhile to slow down from the pace in the US.  We moved from mid=island into town to be closer to the house and will stay put here until the house is completed.

We are right around the corner from the zocolo and super express and the Pearl Realty office...very handy! We were eating out for the first 5 nights but we do have a full stove in this apartment and the weather has been rainy, lightning and thunder storms for a few days now....kinda cozy!

Made a chicken stew the other day and some pasta and of course breakfast, the eggs here are to die for! First night we had the grouper at Fredy's and it was awesome as usual and great to see Fredy again. Actually been back once more as well. We have seen local friends as well.. the second night we were at Fredy's, Cori and her husband Peter were coming in with lobster for Fredy to cook.  We joined them for dinner.  They own Caribbean Casa which is one house away from us and the nicest people! Cori was so great when we were in Seattle and would take pics of the house for me while we were on Facebook together.  If you ever need a beautiful place to stay near us this is the place.  Its called Caribbean Casa on Juarez, she has the same view as us and apartment are lovely!  She also introduced us to our direct neighbors, they were so sweet.  I told her to tell them that I hope there had not been too much noise from our build and they said "no problema"...

We also had a great night out with Colleen and Michael and Julie from Pearl at Bahia Tortuga.  Laughed our asses off...nice place as well except for the mosquito invasion!

We still need to get cell phones.  I looked into unlocking my blackberry and still might try to figure it out but will probably end up buying a new one.  Need to get someone who speaks more spanish though, kind of difficult yesterday.  I have started DuoLingo for spanish lessons on line but am also going to get someone local for lessons as well.

The house is really coming along.  They are plastering away and its really taking shape but so many more exciting phases to come! The seating area on the roof deck is in place, the laundry room as well.  We have got some beautiful tile for the floors that Joe is getting us.  Its going to be beautiful!

Here are some pics of the progress so far...

Back on ISLA!!!!!!

Well we are finally here! After a nightmare of a journey, delays and overnight in Houston we have finally made it HOME!

We are very happy! Missed Mexican Independance day though, disappointed in that but hooked up last night with Mark at NYC Deli and Colleen and Michael and Sid...so good to see friends here.

We went to the Pearl office yesterday morning and Joe took us to the house for a walk thru...omg its AWESOME!  Its going to be beautiful inside and the outside speaks for itself.  We were on the roof and Joe took a rock and threw it in the water and said "you know your close to the water when you can do that"!!!

It is gobsmacking gorgeous.  My favorite in the house is got to be the master bath.  When you walk in on the back wall above the shower and toilet is an arch that reaches up to 25 feet to the roof with two or three small windows to let in light.  It is VERY grand and fabulous.  Wonderful architechural features in the house as well, archway to the second bath downstairs.  Some beautiful plastering as well.

The roof is AMAZING! The views are outstanding, I really don't think anybody could ask for a better view.

If you are looking for a builder on Isla Mujeres you MUST talk to Joe Mendez at Pearl Realty.  He is so precise and detail orientated.  Has great vision and see's the big picture.  We are so pleased with the whole process.  Pablo Jarra is the contractor on the job and is so wonderful and really cares about every small detail.

Joe is going to be building more homes on Isla so if you are even thinking about taking this plunge as we did he is your man to do the job.  Email me for more info if you like.

I will post pics later as its taking forever to load pics on this connection...we are moving into town soon to be nearer the house hopefully connection is better there..hasta...

Here are some more pics courtesy of Bill and Deb Medlin who will be building just down the road from us, they have arrived on Isla and sent us pics immediately....thanks so much Bill and Deb!
